Friday was our last full day in Norway. We decided the only
reason we’re heading home is because Roger, our three-year-old dog, is there.
Otherwise, we’d stay put in Norway!
We enjoyed another lazy breakfast (buffet was good, but it
was no Thon Hotel buffet) and then packed up our bags and shoved them in the
small hotel storage closet. We took another walk along different Bergen
streets, then boarded a boat that would take us on a three-hour fjord cruise.
The boat was a little sleepy (truthfully, I fell asleep in
my seat), but yet again, the scenery was divine. We saw all of Bergen’s
historic harbor, neighborhoods outside of Bergen, quaint cottages and boat
docks, small islands, impressive bridges, and teenage boys mooning us from a
swimming hole.

Once we got back to Bergen, we went on a hunt to find Wyatt
a Norwegian souvenir. Taylor had already selected a sweatshirt; Tim and I had
both found shirts. Wyatt was keen on finding a necklace (have you seen his
silver chain in any of our photos?), but didn’t have much luck. Eventually, in
a small artsy shop in Bryggen, he found a very cool bracelet which he now wears
on his left wrist.

Is this a Viking? Or Wyatt? |
We grabbed an early dinner at Bergen’s famous fish market,
then it was back to Narvesen one final time for one final soft serve.
Seriously, this ice cream can’t be beat and I will forever have the utmost
respect for Norwegian convenience stores.

The goodness is inside in the form of soft serve. |

Wyatt likes vanilla. |

Taylor likes vanilla covered in chocolate. |
 |
I like vanilla covered in chocolate as well. |

Tim likes vanilla with Oreos. |
Tim picked up our rental car from the parking garage while
the kids and I unloaded our luggage from the hotel storage closet. We stuffed
our bags in the rental and then drove 25 minutes to the Bergen airport, still
wondering if we really had to go back home.
Our flight from Bergen to Oslo lasted just under one hour.
We took a shuttle ($8 a piece for me and Tim! Although the kids rode free.) from
the Oslo airport to our final hotel – the Thon Hotel Gardermoen. Oh yes.
Our final night would be at a Thon, which meant that our final breakfast in
Norway would be – drum roll, please – the Thon Hotel breakfast buffet.
